Before I start my sessions, I always tell my clients to relax. After all, we’re not in the military! There’s no need to stand all straight and serious, like a soldier. That’s when Dorian told me that he was enlisted! Our laughs broke the ice, and we giggled about it all throughout the session.

Olivia is a school teacher, and they moved to LA, where Dorian grew up. Thanks for everything you do, Olivia + Dorian! It’s people like you that make this world a better place.

During our session, we went to so many amazing locations! The most meaningful one was the Monterey Aquarium, where Olivia + Dorian had their very first date. They were so adorable as they retraced their steps, remembering where their love started.

Since we wanted to make the most of our time, we took our photos outside the aquarium, and then took a few more near Cannery Row in Monterey. These two were the sweetest!

We also went to Colton Hall, which was a great spot for some portraits. The architecture is so quaint and picturesque, it was the perfect place to showcase these two. I used a fast shutter speed, which means high ISO. This gives these photos that classic film look, and I absolutely love it!

One of my all-time favorite spots is Asilomar State Beach! I loved taking Olivia + Dorian here to give them a chance to let their hair down and really enjoy each other. The tide was low, so we were able to get some amazing shots in the sand of Dorian sweeping Olivia off her feet.

It was pretty windy at the beach, which goes to show that sometimes photography isn’t that glamorous. As a photographer, you have to time things just right and keep fixing hair and wardrobe, but with a little patience, it works!

I loved Dorian’s outfit! His jacket and sneakers matched Olivia’s dress perfectly. They looked a little too warm after I took the shots, but with a little editing magic, these photos turned out amazing! When I showed them the results from my camera, they smiled wide!
